Identity theft is a serious crime. It occurs when your personal information is stolen and used without your knowledge to commit fraud or other crimes. Identity theft can cost you time and money. It can destroy your credit and
ruin your good name.
Deter identity thieves by safeguarding your information.
¦ Shred financial documents and paperwork with personal information before you discard them.
¦ Protect your Social Security number. Don’t carry your Social Security card in your wallet or write your Social Security number on a check. Give it out only if absolutely necessary or ask to use another identifier.
¦ Don’t give out personal information on the phone, through the mail, or over the Internet unless you
know who you are dealing with.
¦ Never click on links sent in unsolicited emails;
instead, type in a web address you know. Use firewalls,
anti-spyware, and anti-virus software to protect
your home computer; keep them up-to-date.
Visit OnGuardOnline.gov for more information.
¦ Don’t use an obvious password like your birth date,
your mother’s maiden name, or the last four digits
of your Social Security number.
¦ Keep your personal information in a secure place
at home, especially if you have roommates, employ outside help, or are having work done in your house.
Defend against ID theft as soon as you suspect it.
¦ Place a “Fraud Alert” on your credit reports, and review the reports carefully. The alert tells creditors
to follow certain procedures before they open new accounts in your name or make changes to your existing accounts. The three nationwide consumer reporting companies have toll-free numbers for placing an initial 90-day fraud alert; a call to one company is sufficient:
Equifax: 1-800-525-6285
Experian: 1-888-EXPERIAN (397-3742)
TransUnion: 1-800-680-7289

Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Internet,
India

Paid the registration fee for online data entry of $95USD. I should have smelt a rat then. Since when do employees have to pay to register.

I asked questions prior to joining and did get replies via the on line chat. Although is was a bit of a wait for a representative but got some answers. I also emailed but no responses.

I started doing assignments frantically after the 3rd day of registering, as their server was down for the 3days. I fired off emails about this, waited hours for a chat person for 2 nights, finally got 1 answer from Zebs was his name, he said the server was going to be going in 2 hours, then he cut me off. Well, another day later and still no server, so they didnt get off to a start in my books. I was already loosing my temper with the wait to get any of my questions answered.

However I spent basically a whole day typing, and could only get tops 73 assignments completed, and I dont even know if they were correct. It takes longer to do than what they state. Was taking me 3min to their server, another 2 min to get the assignment, sending also took up time. To top this off, I had questions regarding the way these were supposed to be typed, as they had rules. Couldnt get any replies from anyone.

I would email them constantly, wait all night for an online chat person whom never logged me in.

I ended up typing full on for 3 days from 7am to 5pm. HELL, I might as well go and get a normal day job if this is the case. I emailed and said I was not going to continue until they responded.

Still no answers to date, so I STOPPED. THANK GOODNESS before I wasted any more of my time and effort for no payment.I have no doubt lost my registration money. I contacted my bank to try and get a reversal, am still waiting to hear back.

You know I even emailed them (all of the email addresses I could get my hands on) and told them that I was going to report them to this rip off report, said I was going to blog about them and make sure everyone in the world knows about them. I didnt expect them to reply.

On or about 2/23, I started the registration procedure to purchase Penbrook Productions’ ‘process rebates from home’ program. I entered my name, address on the 1st screen, the next screen was for credit card information, then the 3rd started asking very perosonal information, such as, ‘how many credit cards do you have, what is your current balance’. I immediately stopped the registration process, or thought I had. No-where had I hit a ’submit’ button, authorizing my credit card to be charged, but, of course, it was!

I tried calling the toll-free number they give, and got someone who could barely speak English, and was extremely hard to understand. She finally told me that my refund would go through in a few days, which it has not. I emailed ‘customer care’, and got one response stating a FRIENDLY customer service agent would get back to me within 24 hours. Of course, they have not! Since I used a credit card, I will go through the route of disputing the charge, but what a mess. DO NOT fall for this program. In my opinion, they are stealing credit and banking information without the consumer actually giving permission for their fees to go through.

Regsweep
www.regsweep.com
Internet,
U.S.A.

I purchased Regsweep software last year from www.regsweep.com. It is a registry sweep that protects your computer from threats that can potentially harm your computer. It said the money I paid, I believe it was $19.95, for the software included all updates for now and in the future. It said it was a one-time payment, and you would receive a registration key that would be valid for an unlimited time unless otherwise stated.

It was not otherwise stated. In fact, it said that my software had expired, and that I had to renew it for a price of $19.95. I had it for one year.

I went to their live chat and spoke with ‘frank’. I asked where it said I must renew when I had purchased the software, since I did not see it anywhere. He said it was not on the website and that you had to pay again, and that he would speak to the advertisers about it.

I asked for a phone number. He said there was none. I asked for a refund, or the unlimited use I was promised on the website for my product, and he said he was not in a position to do that.

He said I could send an email to support. Which I did. No response as of yet.

Their end user license agreement specifically states in paragraph 3 entitled Personal Use Only Restrictions, ‘The ‘RegSweep.com Inc’ Program(s) is made available for your personal, non-commercial use only. You may not modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any information, software, products or services obtained from the ‘RegSweep.com Inc’ Program(s). Use of the ‘RegSweep.com Inc’ Program(s) for any purpose other than personal use is expressly forbidden.’

Here is the last sentence of Paragraph 3: ‘Registration key is valid for an unlimited time, unless stated otherwise’.

It is not ’stated otherwise’ anywhere on the website, in the end-user license agreement, where you pay, or anywhere else in their advertising.

As I said before, ‘frank’, the support chat person, said it was NOT on the website anywhere.

This is a very misleading website making you believe you will never have to pay for anything again. Nowhere does it mention ‘yearly subscription’, or any thing else that must be renewed.

I believe this to be a scam to give people one year for their price of $48.00 dollars now, and not tell them they must renew a year later for $29.95, ‘but if you do it right now, we will slash the price to $19.95′ What a savings huh.

I did not know where to report this to, or to whom. I hope this helps others not to fall into the same trap that I did, believing it was a one-time price with forever use, including updates.

Buyers, Beware. Regsweep.com is not telling you what you need to know when you initially purchase their software. They give a ‘free sweep’ before you buy, but will not remove any threats found UNTIL you buy. Number one mistake. Then, a year later, the ‘out of nowhere’ ‘you must renew, your subscription has expired’ comes along.

I hope someone can stop this website from doing this to other consumers before they get ’sucked in’ to their scheme.
